Debs Roughan fundraising for Breast Cancer Ireland in 2K A DAY IN OCTOBER
I’m taking on the 2K a Day in October challenge for Breast Cancer Ireland — and I’d love your support. There are a couple of reasons I decided to do the 2K a Day challenge. To help spread awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To help raise important funds for Research and Support. To try and bring a positive side and a way to get me out every day while on my own Journey. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 8th July this year. Thanks to someone I know making me aware of the importance of checking and acting fast, my story could be very different. Unfortunately, when I checked I found a lump but I acted immediately. I had a successful surgery on the 6th August to remove the cancer and have now started treatment (preventative). A scary statistic of 1 in 7 women in Ireland will be diagnosed in their lifetime with breast cancer. You don't have to be over a certain age, weight, height, have a certain lifestyle or even be female. Breast Cancer can affect men too! It's so important to check regularly and to know what to look for. Set a reminder 1st of each month to do your check and know what you should be looking for - Early detection is key! I had planned on walking 2km every day in October but due to treatment I have had to miss a few days. Im lucky I have the best family and friends who have been covering my 2Kms until I'm back on my feet. Never did I imagine when I started with a target of 500 that I would raise this much only halfway through the month. YE ARE AMAZING! 🩷 Thank you
